Steps Buyers Take During the Home Buying Process

The National Association of REALTORS (NAR) has studied how people buying homes start their search process. You will notice that 43% of all buyers started by looking for properties online. As a REALTOR, you want to find ways to be included in the online search process. One way to do this is to maximize your on-line presence, via your website, or through social media. You can also make sure you are setting up automated systems to send your Buyers new properties that match their search criteria as they come up (CREB members have free access to Prospects, which does this!).

Although internet marketing can provide leads for your business, remember that consumers are still choosing Realtors they “know, like and trust”5 times more often than shopping online for representation. Invest small in online marketing at the beginning (in terms of both time and money)and make sure you focus on adding value and helping people that are already in your database.

That discomfort is usually attributed to builders, but it’s amplified by unfamiliar power dynamics. Builder transactions aren’t necessarily harder, they’re simply structured differently. And when Realtors understand the differences, they’re in a far better position to protect their clients and lead with...
